Drawings

Drawing has been the very foundation of how Tiago’s impulses and ideas translate into concrete abstract and figurative imagery.
The easily accessible small scale format (paper) with most common media (pencils, pens, paintbrushes, etc) allows quick and free flowing sketching and this has enabled Tiago to explore various styles, techniques and themes, ranging from caricature to portrait, from abstract acrylics on paper to more complex geometric creations, from cartoons to one piece vignettes.
Doodling with a BIC pen on smooth paper enables a completely different starting point to charcoal on highly granulated Canson paper. Watercolors or Acrylics/ oils on A3 format paper sets the artist in a completely different mindset to fountain pen work on a smaller piece.
Collage allows for an extra level of playfulness and creativity than more static approaches will, and the artist’s playbook gets enriched with the increase of media, techniques, themes and styles. The exploration of various themes is also influenced by how the media is set on the various types of paper and surfaces.
